Project Impact

Data from the American Trails Association indicates that all trail use is beneficial for physical health.

Studies have shown that there is a direct correlation between how close people live to a connected system of trails and their level of physical activity in a community. Trails can provide a wide variety of opportunities for being physically active, such as walking/ running/hiking, rollerblading, wheelchair recreation, and bicycling.

Project Background

The 10-year Parks and Recreation Master Plan — released in 2023 and informed by public input, national benchmarks, a review of local inventory, and analysis of current and future usage — identified additional trails and paths connecting the Town as a highly desired recreational amenity. Results from the March 2024 Bond Projects Survey also ranked trails development as a key community project.
